Biostimulation or rejuvenation of the skin from within

You may have your lips augmented and forehead wrinkles eliminated. But if your skin is flabby, dry and lacklustre, such aesthetic treatments will not bring the desired improvement in appearance. A good skin condition is a must! One of the most effective treatments to take care of youthful skin from within is biostimulation. What exactly does this treatment involve?

Tissue biostimulators are products that have been conquering the aesthetic medicine market for several years now. Their action is simple but brilliant – they stimulate the production of natural collagen and elastin, the so-called skin support proteins responsible for its youthful appearance, firmness and elasticity. So, it can be simply said that they truly rejuvenate the skin from within, healing it rather than just “masking” the signs of ageing.

Why is it so important? Because from the age of 25 the amount of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid in your skin decreases. It is also influenced by external factors, especially UV radiation, which is the main cause of accelerated skin ageing. Tissue biostimulators have the ability to inhibit and even reverse this process, resulting in a visible improvement in skin quality. Tissue thickening and firming also leads to a shallowing of wrinkles, a more even jawline, an improved facial contour, and a natural facelift.

What ingredients stimulate collagen production?

There are several substances with proven biostimulating effects. These include, but are not limited to, calcium hydroxyapatite, polynucleotides, atelocollagen, polylactic acid and amino acids. In general, a biostimulator is not a filler like hyaluronic acid – its purpose is to remodel the skin and thus rejuvenate it by creating a natural collagen scaffold for the skin.

An innovation on the market is collagen (identical to human collagen) extracted by genetic engineering from... silkworm threads! This product, called KARISMAis additionally enriched with hyaluronic acid so that – unlike other “typical” biostimulants – it gives an immediate effect of revitalisation, hydration, gentle volumetric filling and lifting of tissues. And this makes our patients very happy because literally right after the procedure they look better and more radiant; their skin is fresh, hydrated and nicely toned! Of course, you have to wait about 1-3 months for the full result of skin rejuvenation, firming and lifting, because that is how long it takes for the full, gradual remodelling of the skin induced by the biostimulant action of KARISMA.

Safety of treatments

Biostimulation is a very safe procedure, provided that we use high-quality medical products – and that is what I use in my medical practice, properly qualify the patient for the procedure and know how to administer the product correctly (with what technique and to what depth). Biostimulators are also, one might say, safe and predictable from an aesthetic point of view; they do not pose risk of exaggeration and unnatural effect. Of course, there is sometimes the possibility of “overstimulating” the skin; after all, anything can be overdone – which is why it is so important to have a consultation in advance and plan the treatment programme accordingly. This is what our clinic specialises in – we take an individual, holistic and comprehensive approach to each patient, tailoring the treatment plan to their expectations, indications and capabilities.

In terms of safety, KARISMA is also unique – since it is not a biostimulator of animal origin, the product is 100% biocompatible with human tissues, it is non-allergenic, non-irritating and does not cause adverse reactions. I try to do the procedure in such a way that it doesn’t hurt and doesn’t leave any marks. I am assisted by skilled medical assistants who intensely cool and apply pressure to the skin during the injection. Immediately afterwards, we apply special mineral makeup. Thus, the procedure requires virtually no recovery and can be performed throughout the year, which is also a big advantage.

To whom do I recommend tissue biostimulators?

I could say that this treatment is ideal for anyone. It can be performed as part of anti-ageing prevention already before the age of 30 or as a therapy to reduce the signs of skin ageing, such as flabbiness and sagging of tissues, dry skin, tired, sallow colour, and fine wrinkles. I have to admit that it is one of my favourite biostimulation treatments for the face, neck and décolleté because, with the addition of hyaluronic acid, it gives an immediate effect of freshness, hydration and revitalisation of the skin, which becomes more radiant, glowing and nicely toned right away. Interestingly, it is also an option for men who have doubts about, for example, hyaluronic acid fillers or mesotherapy, but want to take care of the quality of their skin. As a supportive procedure, KARISMA also works well in the treatment of scars, e.g. acne scars and stretch marks.

I invite you to a consultation to arrange an appropriate treatment programme with skin biostimulators. We can supplement their action with, for example, fillers, botulinum toxin or other methods individually selected to your expectations and indications.
